Simon Claesson is one of the recent recruits to the Stockholm University School of Business and has quickly gotten into the swing of things in his new role as a project manager. Foremost on his agenda is to lead, manage and coordinate the development of the new student web, which Simon regards as a tough but exciting challenge.
How did you end up working at the Stockholm University School of Business?
I read the advertisement and became curious about the tasks, which involved developing and improving the student web. It all sounded exciting and seemed to suit me. Basically, I work with IT and education within the field that I have studied and am passionate about.
What does a project manager do?
My role is to coordinate the different pieces in a project and keep the process running smoothly. While working with the student web, I talk to students and employees at the department to map out what needs and requirements there are. Then I check with the IT technician if this is possible to do. These suggestions are then made into specific goals within the project. I get the project running and manage it until it is completed. This is the simplified version, the process is a lot more complicated than that ….
Are you enjoying yourself?
I really like my new work and the new challenges that I face. My colleagues are nice and the environment at Kräftriket is simply amazing.
What does the term Business Economics mean to you?
Spontaneously, I think of calculations and graphs, budgets and follow-up meetings. Rather hands-on with a lot of numbers.
How does one contact you with suggestions regarding the new student web?
It is easiest to send an e-mail to
sc@fek.su.se. Alternatively, you can call me at 08- 6747421 or simply get my attention in the hallway if I don’t look too busy.
